Finn is very into dinosaurs lately. I would like to say this interest was facilitated by wonderful books and conversation on my part, but the truth is he is obsessed with this stupid show called Dino Dan. This show is really strange. Brian and I can't figure it out- the kid (Dino Dan) is middle school age yet he sees these dinosaurs, which we think are imaginary, but his classmates go along with it. Now, we all know that a 12 year old who sees imaginary dinosaurs would not be treated nicely in middle school, but these kids seem to think he is cool. Anyway, regardless of how ridiculous this show is Finn loves it. He now sees imaginary dinosaurs (a little more normal in a 5 year old than in a 12 year old), sets traps for them and takes pictures of them. He even built a dinosaur out of a box, camera and remote control car. This dinosaur he built is being used to try to infiltrate the dinosaurs so he can learn about them. I have decided to take advantage of this interest and we have been doing a unit on dinosaurs- books, writing, science, art projects, so many options. Notice the vest he is wearing? This is a vest that is being worn everyday now, because apparently paleantologists wear vests. I do love that he is at the age now where we can do all these fun lessons, it lets me be the kindergarten teacher again.

This cracks me up, as Graham loves that show too :) I totally don't get it either... I would have to say the dinosaurs are imagined, but then he like carries them in his backpack and stuff, so weird. But Graham loves it so we have to watch it almost every day. We aren't quite to the point of wearing a vest, but Graham just turned 3, so I think maybe it's a age thing :) At least it is somewhat educational and not quite as brutal as say Yo Gabba Gabba and some of the Nick Jr. shows. So cute though, don't you sometimes just wish they'd stay little forever?
